The Effects of Fulvic Acid Against Water Avoidance Stress-Induced Damage of Rat Colon Mucosa

Objective: Chronic stress plays an important role in the etiology of many inflammatory diseases. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), a source free radicals, act as signaling molecules progression stress-related Oxidative occurs result increase radicals tissues. The damage caused by oxidative can be reduced antioxidant replacement. In our study, effect fulvic acid, powerful antioxidant, on water avoidance model rat colon was investigated morphologically and biochemically.
 Methods: Experimental groups (n=6, Sprague-Dawley male rats, 300 g): control (C), (WAS), stress+fulvic acid (WAS+FA). Rats WAS + FA group were given single dose (150 mg/kg i.p.) immediately after exposure to stress. colons stained with hematoxylin-eosin toluidine blue. Total status (TAS), total oxidant (TOS), index (OSI) analyzed Results: Compared C group, showed epithelial damage, few empty goblet cells, cell infiltration, active mast cells connective tissue. Mucosal integrity, number activity improved WAS+FA compared group. Biochemically, TAS levels decreased, TOS OSI increased increased, decreased respect those group.
 Conclusion: Our findings indicated that chronic colon.
